The OECD 308: Aerobic and Anaerobic Transformation in Aquatic Sediment Systems Study contributes to environmental fate assessments by assessing transformations of organic chemicals in aquatic sediment. This study measures the transformation of a substance in both water and water-sediment systems and tracks mineralization, distribution, and transformation products in both water and sediment systems. Tests are performed in two different sediment compounds for up to 100 days, or until only 10% of the original test substance remains. The study assesses for concentration levels, gases and volatiles, mineralization rates and non-extractable residues.
